He's 100% certain he's about to crack his skull open on the edge of the tub here, probably dying instantly still buried in his boyfriend. Suffice it to say, he isn't expecting Vash to save it. He probably should- he's seen Vash dodge being shot point blank, among other things- but it happens so suddenly it doesn't occur to him in that moment. One moment, he's free falling, and the next he feels cool metal wrapped around his back keeping him supported just before Vash yanks him back to his feet fully, chest-to-chest with Wolfwood somehow not having pulled out through all of it.
